No saffron shawls to be allowed in schools: K’taka CM
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that saffron shawls will not be permitted in schools, while hijabs will be allowed, reversing a previous order from the BJP government that barred hijabs. This decision has sparked political backlash, with critics arguing it undermines uniform policies and promotes religious distinctions in educational settings. Supporters of the new policy, including Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, welcomed the move as a step towards ensuring educational rights and religious freedom for Muslim students.
