Antitrust trial begins against Live Nation and Ticketmaster in Manhattan federal court
A federal antitrust trial began in Manhattan against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, with the Justice Department arguing the companies illegally monopolize the concert industry. The six-week trial will examine whether Live Nation's dominance—including long-term venue contracts and control over ticketing—violates antitrust law. The case references the 2022 Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticket sale crash that sparked congressional scrutiny. Live Nation's defense argues the companies do not hold monopoly power and enable broad artist and consumer access.
