People from more than 30 countries are missing after the flash floods in Nepal and China

Nepal’s tourism board said 25 of the missing were from Canada.

B.C. ends provincial state of emergency as wildfires continue to burn
Inside the early battle against the ferocious Bald Range wildfire The state of provincial emergency was declared hours after the Bald Range wildfire forced residents west of Okanagan Lake to flee, with more than 20,000 people evacuated from their homes. However, the area of 4,700 square kilometres burned by about 1,100 fires so far this year has only been a fraction of the area burned in other years – such as 2023 when a record 29,000 square kilometres burned.

Highway 1 through Fraser Canyon open after wildfire closed it for 7 weeks
Traffic is currently limited to one lane in each direction through the westbound lanes, with an 80 km/h construction speed zone in effect. Highway 1 through B.C.’s Fraser Canyon is now open in a limited fashion after being closed due to a wildfire for seven weeks. B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation says there is single-lane alternating traffic through a two-kilometre section extending from one kilometre south of the Alexandra Tunnel to one kilometre north of the Alexandra Tunnel.
