Landlord withdraws rent increase after tenant strike at Toronto apartment: organizers
Tenants at 75 Spencer Ave. in Toronto's Parkdale neighborhood have successfully ended a six-month rent strike after the property management company, MetCap Living, withdrew its application for a 5.4% above guideline rent increase. The tenants argued that recent renovations did not improve their living conditions and that the proposed increase would be unaffordable. The maximum allowable rent increase for 2025 was set at 2.5% for rent-controlled buildings in Ontario.

Woman, 72, identified after Scarborough couple killed in daylight shooting
