62 lakh properties in Bengaluru, but only 18 lakh owners pay tax, says minister Krishna Byre Gowda
Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda highlighted that out of an estimated 62 lakh properties in the city, only 18 lakh owners are currently paying property tax. This low compliance is causing financial strain on city corporations, which rely on tax revenue to provide civic services. The government is focusing on improving tax compliance by integrating civic databases and identifying properties that are not contributing to the tax system, aiming to enhance city finances and service delivery.
